The assessment, diagnosis and non-surgical management of strabismus, amblyopia, diplopia and eye movement disorders is termed orthoptics. Orthoptic therapy can be described as physical therapy for the visual system which is aimed at helping people with binocular vision anomalies such as phoria, tropia, convergence or accommodative insufficiency. These binocular vision anomalies can cause symptoms such as eye strain, headache, eye fatigue and blurred vision especially during prolong near task. The most frequently encountered conditions in primary eye care after refractive error is binocular vision anomalies. Orthoptic therapy is remarkably successful in rehabilitating all types of binocular vision anomalies.
