In simple terms, low vision is severe vision loss which cannot be corrected fully with regular eyeglasses, contact lens or surgery. Low vision may be due to birth defect or injury. People with low vision may have learning difficulties that require special instruction and may need help in their social development as well as in their day-to-day activities. Eye diseases like glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataract if not managed efficiently may lead to low vision and visual impairment.
